Small Claims Court

You can sue your creditors or credit reporting agencies in small claims court forcing them to remove the inaccurate negative information.

You don't ask for monetary damages, just for the injunction to action. The creditor most likely won't show up to defend this action, and you can get a default judgment against the creditor for your request. If you ask for monetary damages, it's very likely that the company will send an attorney to court.

Be sure your small claims court is a court of equity that is one with the power to order the company to specifically perform a requested action. Some small claims courts can only provide monetary rewards. A state court can give you the relief you look for, but the claims are then more expensive to file. Many credit repair services have been successful with this strategy as a last ditch effort to have an item removed.

Credit repair and rebuilding requires a balance of persistence, efforts, time and money. Your commitment of efforts requires the necessary correspondence, responses, requests and reports. Your commitment of time involves the time required to initiate the repair process, and to build credit, or wait for things to come off of your report through natural attrition. Your commitment of money involves the cost of the letter writing campaign as well as the credit counselor services, or negotiated settlements or even court costs.
